Position Title: Cocktail ServerReports To: General Manager/Floor Manager Overview: The Cocktail Server is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service by serving drinks and food to guests in a timely and professional manner. This role requires a personable and attentive individual with the ability to manage multiple tables, maintain a welcoming environment, and ensure guests have an enjoyable experience. The cocktail server must have a thorough knowledge of the bar menu, including signature cocktails, wines, beers, and spirits, and be able to make recommendations when needed. Key Responsibilities: Customer Service: Greet guests in a friendly and welcoming manner. Take drink and food orders promptly and ensure accurate delivery of all items. Answer any questions regarding the menu and provide recommendations based on guests’ preferences. Ensure guests have a positive and memorable experience by providing attentive, personalized service throughout their visit. Address any guest concerns or complaints professionally and ensure satisfaction. Maintain a polished, professional appearance and behavior at all times. Order Taking & Delivery: Take orders for beverages and food, accurately entering them into the POS system. Serve drinks, cocktails, and food items to guests in a timely manner. Ensure all beverages are presented according to the bar’s standards, including garnishes and proper glassware. Coordinate with bartenders and kitchen staff to ensure correct and prompt delivery of all items. Clear tables, replace dirty glassware, and replenish drinks as needed. Product Knowledge: Maintain in-depth knowledge of the bar’s menu, including signature cocktails, wines, beers, and spirits. Understand how drinks are prepared and the key ingredients in each, allowing for clear and accurate recommendations to guests. Stay updated on menu changes, seasonal specials, and any promotions. Be knowledgeable about alcohol content and legal service requirements for responsible serving. Sales & Upselling: Suggest drink pairings, upsell premium liquors, and promote signature cocktails to maximize sales. Inform guests about any daily specials, promotions, or events taking place at the venue. Encourage guests to try new items, including food and specialty drinks. Compliance & Safety: Follow all responsible alcohol service guidelines, ensuring guests are served safely and responsibly. Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards, including proper handling of glassware and food. Monitor guest intoxication levels and inform management if a guest needs to be cut off. Handle cash and card payments accurately and process transactions through the POS system. Venue Maintenance & Cleanliness: Ensure that the bar/lounge area, tables, and seating areas are clean and well-maintained throughout the shift. Replenish supplies such as napkins, straws, and utensils as needed. Assist with setting up, cleaning, and breaking down the service area as required. Help reset tables for new guests in a timely manner, clearing any used items and maintaining a clean environment. Teamwork & Communication: Work closely with bartenders, kitchen staff, and fellow servers to ensure smooth service flow. Communicate clearly with management and the team about guest needs, complaints, or potential issues. Assist other team members as needed, especially during busy periods. Skills & Qualifications: Experience: Previous experience as a cocktail server, bartender, or server in a high-volume bar, lounge, or restaurant is preferred. Knowledge: Basic knowledge of cocktails, spirits, beer, and wine. Familiarity with bar tools and drink-making processes is a plus. Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage guests and provide a positive experience. Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and carry trays with multiple drinks and food items. Multi-tasking: Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple tables and orders simultaneously. Problem-Solving: Ability to handle guest complaints and resolve issues quickly and professionally. Appearance: A neat, clean, and professional appearance is essential. Additional Requirements: Must meet the legal age requirement to serve alcohol. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to handle cash, process credit card payments, and provide correct change. Compensation: Hourly wage plus tips. Potential for bonuses based on performance and sales. Meal and/or drink discounts (depending on the venue's policies).
